Unless you consider yourself a rower or are aspiring to be one, there’s no reason that you should care about rowing. The sport itself can be truly fascinating if you really dig into it, but by and large, most people find their interest doesn’t grow beyond the rowing machine itself. And that’s TOTALLY OK!
Yes, we’re all about the Concept2 rower at Dark Horse and that’s why your world doesn’t need to revolve around it. It’s why we do what we do. In fact, we’d appreciate it if you stopped trying to care so much about rowing, and instead, put your efforts in being good movers.
At the end of the day, movement creates life and sustains life. One of the greatest things we can do for our bodies is to simply move, one way or another. If rowing as a movement finds its way into your workouts, it’s not rowing you want to care about, it’s about the rowing machine as a tool. If you have to row, then get the most out of it. Don’t waste your time not improving, learn to improve so you can excel at everything else you do.
When it comes to the rowing movement, it’s far less about the rowing than it is about the movement. There are four basic positions which if you master them you will set yourself up for better workouts, you’ll save time, you will feel healthier for the work you do, and you’ll be happier with the workout in general because the movement will no longer be a mystified movement.

One of the greatest inspirations of good movement is Stephen Jepsen. The man has developed a form of play that will keep you moving, active, and healthy all while enjoying life. He doesn’t row and he doesn’t have to. If he wants to then we’re sure he’d choose to learn how to move well.
