Concept 2 machines have long had the reputation for being built to last, heck! the amount of abuse my own personal machine takes I can vouch for that statement!
So this week here is the ultimate guide on how to store and travel with your C2 rowing machine. When we talk about storage a few of the big reasons to ensure you do this correctly is to take care of the machine and essentially ensure we are not prematurely wearing it out.
Step 1: Make sure you are folding away your monitor. I get that this means the next person who uses the machine is going to have to unfold it, but the idea of it being foldable is the whole system of flywheel casing and uprights is designed to stop the monitor taking an impact if you do bump it into a wall.
Step 2: Ensure your handle is released from the hook you would use during a session and is back up in the cage portion of the rowing machine, once again near the flywheel. The reason being is on the underside of the machine is a bungee system that pulls the handle back into the machine.If we leave the handle in the hooks then over time it puts unnecessary stretch in that bungee that can cause it to prematurely wear out.
Step 3: Storage in a gym. The best thing about a C2 machine is it is so easy to store in the upright position tightly packed next to another C2 machine so they take up next to no space in your facility. When doing this try and always overlap the legs so the tiger the machines are together the more space you get back in your gym.
Step 4: Storage at home. The second best thing about a C2 machine is the ability to take them into 2 pieces so they are super easy to store and you don’t then have to worry about head height. Just release the clip on the monorail and lift the front of the erg up and away to release the two parts. These can then be stored easily anywhere you choose or you are now ready to load them up ready to travel.
Traveling with a C2 is a great thing to be able to do. The fact this machine breaks into two so you are allowed to do this makes it so easy to be able to do.
And there you have it, all the information you will ever need to be able to break down and store your erg as well as travel with it once it is in those 2 pieces.

Do you not recommend to leave it setup if space is available? I row at home, usually fold the monitor down but leave the handle in the hook (which ill change from now on). But i leave the unit assembled and on the ground, ready to go. Is that not recommended?
