With the current climate the way it is and lots of us having to row at home, we thought it would be a good time to run down a checklist of ‘how to update your Performance Monitors (PMs) firmware and ensure you have the most up to date version running for when you are working out from home.
Here’s what you need to know!
Step 1. Grab your laptop, either a USB A or USB C cable to attach to your PM, your PM and a cup of coffee to chill with whilst the firmware updates.
Step 2. Head over to https://www.concept2.com/service/monitors/pm5/firmware and on the right hand side click on the DOWNLOAD – UTILITY app for either windows or mac. This usually takes around 5-10 mins so sit back with that cup of coffee previously mentioned.
Step 3. Worth noting at this point any workouts you haven’t saved to your Concept 2 logbook are worth doing before you update your firmware. Just in case anything does happen and it wipes the PM memory and all your hard earned meters.
Step 4. Grab your USB and connect your laptop and the PM together. Ports are located on the reverse of your PM and are pretty easy to navigate providing you have the correct USB cable.
Step 5. Double click and launch the Concept 2 Utility app on your laptop and you will be presented with 3 options. UPDATE FIRMWARE. UPLOAD/TRANSFER RESULTS & MAINTENANCE SETTINGS.
Step 6. Click on the green arrow for UPDATE FIRMWARE. You will now be presented with three options that depend on the PM model you have. Either a PM 3, PM 4 or PM 5.
Step 7. Select the PM model you have and sit back as the utility will now start to auto update your firmware. This usually takes around 10-15mins so enjoy the remaining bit of that cup of coffee and relax knowing you will be up to date with all firmware on your PM.
Step 8. Once complete, unplug the USB from the PM and your computer. Put on your training gear and get ready to take your updated PM for a spin!
